Mothers – The Real Superheroes

The coronavirus pandemic has forced every one of us to see things differently. For working mothers, these are trying times. They have to ensure they give their focus to work, to their children, and their family in general. With childcare services, schools, and day care centres being closed, women have to don multiple hats to ensure that they can satisfy all their daily obligations.

Most mothers already deal with a whole spectrum of tasks—ensuring that their children are up in time, food is prepared for everyone in time and the children are fed. Working mothers deal with the additional responsibility of committing themselves to the demands of their work while taking care of their existing household tasks. Although the pandemic has ensured that they have a co-caregiver at home, many times their family members are either busy themselves or have jobs that do not allow them to work from home. These problems stress young mothers out and can cause productivity issues at work.

Taking care of young children

Mothers with older children mainly have to deal with ensuring that their children can study and stay engaged while they are at work. However, for nursing mothers or mothers who have just gotten off their maternity leaves, a major problem is nursing while attending meetings and calls when working from home. Infants do not heed meeting timings while demanding to be fed, and it becomes problematic for women to be on calls and feed their children at the same time. Many have since moved to formula or cow’s milk, but both these alternatives are not healthy for the all-round development of young children.

Problems while nursing

Many young mothers may also face multiple problems while nursing their children including swelling, mastitis, cracks, inverted nipples, and pain amongst others. Although there are many solutions available in the market, their quality and manner of working might either not be optimal, or not suitable for all women. One way to deal with many of these problems is abstinence from nursing, but that is detrimental for the development of the baby. A product that can solve many of these problems while ensuring that the baby is adequately fed is a breast pump.
